The artwork

Madonna with Sleeping Child Jesus is an oil on canvas by Szymon Czechowicz (1689–1775), measuring 96 × 70 cm and inscribed on the reverse “S. Czechowicz pinxit.”

Published provenance records the painting in the collection of Prince Sanguszko at Podhorce Palace, later with Z. Michael Legutko, Lipert Gallery, and in The Barbara Piasecka Johnson Collection by 1990.

The work was offered as Lot 7 in the Barbara Piasecka Johnson Foundation charity auction Art for Autism, held at TPC at Jasna Polana, Princeton, New Jersey, on 30 September 2006. Its present whereabouts are unknown.
